A forensic interview may serve as the first step in most child protective services and/or law enforcement investigations of potential child sexual or physical abuse.  A properly conducted forensic interview by an objective and trained expert professional to evaluate the potential for abuse is a central component of the evaluation child sexual and/or physical abuse. Objective and quality expert forensic interviewing involves an evaluation of the interview setting, communication strategies with involved investigative and medical professionals, utilization of objective and legally sound interviewing techniques; and use of trained, experienced, and properly supervised interviewers.
